The
New England Patriots
announced the signings of two players on Monday, DE/OLB
Trevor Scott
and CB
Marquice Cole
. Terms of the deals were not available.
The addition of Scott, was expected since news of his agreement broke late last week. The 6-foot-6, 255-pound defender was a sixth round pick (169th overall) of the
Oakland Raiders
in the 2006 NFL Draft.
The four year veteran has player in 58 games with 16 starts. He has recorded 61 tackles, 13.5 sacks one pass defended and one forced fumble in his career.
Scott, 27, suffered a torn ACL in the 2010 season. He appeared in just 10 games for the Raiders that season. Scott participated in all 16 games for the Raiders in 2011.
Cole is a three year veteran free agent who played for the New York Jets from 2009-11. Originally signed by the Oakland Raiders as a rookie free agent in 2007, the
Northwestern
product bounced around the league before landing in New York.
The 5-foot-10m 192-pound defensive back, spent 2007 with the Tennessee Titans, before joining the New Orleans Saints in 2008 and the Jets in 2009.
Cole, 28, has appeared in 37 games with one start. He has 14 career tackles, 2 interceptions and one punt return for a touchdown. As a special teams contributor, he has recorded 45 tackles.
The additions indicate that the Patriots are adding players who could play a role with New England. Neither is expected to challenge for a starting role immediately.
