In an area that consistently boasts top college football talent, Collins Hill (GA) quarterback Brett Sheehan admits to feeling honored at his selection to the Gwinnett County All-Stars.

"It means a lot," Sheehan said after a win Friday. "We have a lot of kids that we play [against] week in and week out. It's a lot of fun to get to play together on one team for a week. Obviously we got the win, so it makes it a little bit more sweet."

The quarterback led his team to victory after a week's worth of practice with the best in the area.

"The first day, we were getting the rust off," Sheehan admitted. "Besides some of the teams that made deep playoff runs, everyone else was getting back into it. Other than that first day of practice, everything went pretty smoothly. A lot of guys were working hard. It was a lot of fun."

Suiting up Friday night was the final time for Sheehan as a high school athlete. The quarterback committed to Florida International in June, but recently decommitted amidst an FIU coaching change.

"Right now, I'm talking to Appalachian State, Georgia State, Illinois State and Furman," Sheehan said of his reopened recruitment. "I'm waiting to see which schools come through and officially offer."

Sheehan expects his recruitment to continue to pick up after the dead period, which began on December 17th and will last until January 3rd. In the meantime, he has begun setting dates for his remaining official visits.

"I have an official visit to Georgia State on [January] 11th," Sheehan said. "I want to get up to Illinois State in January and App State as well."

Sheehan has not yet set dates for either of those visits.
